    Description

Interesting "Ceramic Association of New Jersey Fall Meeting 1951" (Rutgers U) demitasse cup.  Made by Lamberton Scammell China.  2 1/4" tall.  Ivory body with the Rutgers school colors -- red and black.  Inside is a leaf and some kind of nut.  Superb condition on this 70 year-old demi cup.  No issues whatsoever.
Following is some historical background on the Ceramic Association of New Jersey...
The Ceramic Association of New Jersey began in 1914 as the New Jersey Clayworkers Association on the campus of Rutgers University.  In June of 1932 the name was changed to the Ceramic Association of New Jersey to embrace the much wider field of ceramics than the name clayworkers indicated.
In 1920, a new, larger ceramics building was erected and opened on June 13, 1922.  The building was constructed entirely of ceramic products representing every line of ceramic manufacture in the state of New Jersey.  Located on George Street of the College Avenue Campus (formerly the Neilson Campus), this building is still in use by the University and is now home to the School of Social Work.
A wonderful one of a kind Ceramic Association of New Jersey demitasse cup for your collection.
