This symbol appears throughout China’s history on precious antique porcelain, traditional Chinese paintings and ceramic Ware. The person who gives a gift with the double Happiness symbol is bestowing upon the recipient a deep wish for future happiness, success and fortune. It has this become a favorite symbol at weddings and birthdays. The porcelain piece upon this box is actually a fragment of porcelain that was recovered from China’s dynasty period. Though time and political upheaval destroyed the original whole porcelain piece, the surviving fragment has now been individually fitted to crate this lively shard box.
