Round Cinnabar Chinese Lacquer Box with Fu Dogs

Rare 4" piece, these are usually floral but this one has the Foo Dogs.  Foo Dogs are always in pairs, male and female, and symbolize protection.
The female protects the people dwelling in the home and the male protects the structure itself.
The dogs are actually lions.
Cinnabar is a distinct form of intricately decorated lacquerware.
Weighs 7.2 oz and is 1.5" tall.
