    Description

This lovely hexagonal box is a small work of art produced in China and sold in the U. S. in the 1970s.
It measures 3-1/8 inches in diameter and is 2 inches high.
The artisan used straw, wood, and bamboo to deftly form a complex marquetry effect. This hexagonal trinket box is decorated in shades of faded blue, pink and gold.
The design on top of the box consists of a flower and a peacock feather backed by leaf-like shapes on a burnt-amber-colored background. The wood grain of the materials used accents this design in an appealing manner.
The sides of the box are trimmed with amber and brown vertical stripes as well as horizontal bands accenting the top and bottom.
The entire box has been coated with lacquer.  As if all of that was not enough, the bottom of the box has been painted dark maroon with floating magenta rings. The interiors of the box and lid are covered with a bright pink silky fabric.
The box is in good used condition,  PLEASE NOTE:  There are areas of missing paint on the bottom of the box. Be sure to view all of our photos for condition of this item.
Ships within the U. S. A. only.  Buyer pays actual USPS First-Class shipping only--no other fees.
