Vtg Chinese Elephant Floral Bird Fish Cloisonné Figurine 6" w/ Scroll Wood Base

Description

Offered is a lovely vintage Chinese cloisonné elephant on a scroll wood base. The elephant has exquisitely detailed enamel in an Azul blue and the workmanship is excellent. The decoration features a vibrant floral motif of chrysanthemums and other flowers. There is a bird on one side and the ears of the elephant which are lilac in color feature koi-style fish. A flower adorns the elephants head. The colors in the piece are cloud white, blue, a lovely lilac/purple, black, and accents of crimson reds. The elephant's trunk is up which in Chinese culture is said to bring good luck and fortune. The vintage scroll base (marked Japan) is made of a dark hard wood and beautifully displays the figurine.
The elephant is 6" in height to the top of his trunk (approx. 7" on the stand), approx. 5" in length and approx. 2 1/4" in width. The base is 2 7/8" x 4" x 15/16".
The piece is in very good estate condition with no dents or repairs. There is a tiny spot of enamel missing in a cloisonné compartment just under the trunk  on the elephant's mouth (see photo #11 w/ yellow arrow). This small defect is hard to see and it has likely been there since the piece was produced.
